Duanna Johnson.
Duanna Johnson:
Duanna was 43 years old, and she died on November the 9th, 2008.
She was shot execution style, in the head.
At the time she was suing the Memphis police for 1.3 million dollars.
Duanna had been profiled and arrested for alleged prostitution.
There was in fact no client or money exchange presented as any evidence.
Therefore, and rightly so, she had refused to answer these unsupported allegations.
That refusal led to her being brutally beaten up by two Memphis police officers.
Officers Bridges McRae, and James Swain, were those found responsible.
Swain had held her down whilst Mcrae had wrapped handcuffs around his knuckles, then beat her savagely.
The cowardly beating can be seen in the video link provided.
Mcrae had called her a 'Faggot' and referred to her as 'HE', because she was Transgender.
They had even pepper sprayed her.
Her history included being continually turned away from jobs, and even from drug treatment centers.
The so-called housing shelters in Memphis had refused her, based on her Transgender status.
In a two year period she was the third Transgender woman to be killed in Memphis.
Both of these prejudiced officers were fired from their positions.
Ex-officer McCrae had been federally prosecuted, and admitted to a single count of violating Johnson’s civil rights.
He was then sentenced to two years in prison, for both Johnson’s beating and his own tax evasion.
Duanna Johnson's sad life had ended in tragedy due to the shallow people that simply cannot, and will not accept a person for whom they are.
People do not choose to be whom they are! They quite purely and simply are, 'themselves'!
At the end of the day, does it really concern these unmoralistic sceptics!
Can they not realise that their prejudice makes them the real problem?
A life is a life, and they are the person that they believe themselves to be.
The words, 'live, and let live', are lost on these judgemental fools.
Memphis is described as a sleepy Southern town.
Yet history bears witness to the South being somewhat reluctant to any kind of change, or as I would call it, humanity?
Her killing remains unsolved, and appears to have been completely overlooked!
There's a very simple way to understand anyone, no matter who ... And that is to put yourself in their shoes, and then see how you would feel?
Video: This video is brutal...
Eleanor Bumpurs.
Eleanor Bumpurs:
Eleanor was 66 years old, and she died on the 29th of October, 1984.
She was shot dead by the NYPD emergency Unit.
Eleanor was being evicted for withholding her rent, due to maintenance problems.
The truth was, that she was ill, and needed help, not eviction.
She had refused to be removed, and unfortunately picked up a knife.
But instead of being talked down, listened to, or even restrained by medical professionals, she was actually shot.
Mary Bumpers (Daughter), stated that she will never get over the outrage of that day.
Officer Stephen Sullivan who shot her was wrongly acquitted.
The city eventually agreed to pay the family $200,000 in a civil suit.
Again, the use of deadly force on someone unwell, in fact disabled...
Why reach for your gun, when you can reach for their heart?
Kathryn Johnston.
Kathryn Johnston:
Kathryn was 92 years old, and she died on the 21st of November, 2006.
She was killed by undercover police officers. Her home was at Neal Street, in northwest Atlanta.
A botched drug raid was performed by police officers that cut through the homes burglar bars, and then break down her door.
Johnston fired a warning shot above the officers heads, believing that they were possible burglars.
On any 'No-Knock warrant', the police do not announce themselves, instead they just simply open fire.
Even shooting their own. The police injuries were later attributed to friendly fire from each others weapons.
They had discharged 39 shots towards Ms Johnston, and even handcuffed her as she lay dying.
Afterwards they planted drugs, and told others that they had been tipped off.
The so-called informer finally denied this in court, and stated that the officers had threatened and forced him to lie.
These three ruthless police officers were only sentenced to ten, six, and five years imprisonment.
In August 2010, Johnston's family was awarded $4.9 million in a court settlement.
Sadly all the money in the world can never replace a much loved persons life.
Kayla Moore.
Kayla Moore:
Kayla was 41 years old, and she died on the 12th of February, 2013.
She was a Transgender female who had died in Berkeley Police Departments custody.
Kayla died after being restrained by police officers responding to a 911 call.
The warrant for her arrest was actually for another person, bearing the same name as Kayla.
It was also mentioned that the officers forced her to walk in an uncomfortable position, then over restrained her.
After which they then failed to check for any vital signs, and she simply stopped breathing.
Her family are appealing a wrongful death suit against the city of Berkeley at the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.
Does anyone feel that despite arresting the wrong person, there was a distinct air of prejudice involved?
SAY HER NAME!
Kendra James.
Kendra James:
Kendra was 21 years old, and she died on the 5th of May, 2003.
She was fatally shot by the Portland police.
The car she was in, had been stopped by 3 Portland police officers.
Officers Rick Bean, Kenneth Reynolds, and Scott McCollister, all had less than 2 years experience on the force.
These officers were aged, (McCollister 27, Reynolds, 26, and Bean, 23).
She was placed into a police car, but left alone, so she had panicked and jumped into the driver's seat.
Officer McCollister made several unsuccessful attempts to remove her, whilst partially inside the vehicles open door.
He had tried to pull her by her hair, but it was a wig, and it simply came off.
Then he attempted to use a Taser, and a pepper spray, but stated that they both failed to operate.
Therefore he drew his gun, and said that he put it to her head, and told her to get out of the car.
After which he alleges that the car started to move, so he fired a shot, which subsequently killed her.
Both his Taser, and the pepper spray were later tested, and found to be fully functional.
The fact that he was partially inside the car, was completely against all police procedure.
Powder residue taken from his gun was tested, and revealed that he was much further away from her when he actually fired.
All of these inconsistencies, and yet there was still no public inquest into Kendra's death!
Out of 12 homicides in Portland during 2003, half (including Kendra James) were women.
The African American community in Portland, has long been complaining of police racism and misconduct.
This tragedy sparked the largest march against police brutality in at least the last 15 years.
Malissa Williams.
Malissa Williams:
Malissa was 30 years old, and she Died on the 29th of November, 2012.
She had died alongside Timothy Russell 43, in Cleveland, Ohio. Malissa was actually homeless.
The police had alleged that they made an attempt to stop their car, but stated that they sped off.
Another version states that Russel who was driving at the time got startled by the car following him, and simply sped up.
After which, no less than 62 police cars joined in with the chase!
Throughout the whole chase, officers gave out false live reports on their radio broadcasts.
They said that Russel had pointed a gun at them, but in fact he was wearing black gloves and holding a red soda can.
The car itself was even legal, and he was trying to tell them to stop firing at them, as they were both completely unarmed.
One radio message from a vice cop, informed them that there was no gun in Russels hand, just a red can.
But when the car finally stopped, thirteen gun happy police officers began firing at the car with no regard for anyones lives.
Officer Michael Brelo had actually climbed over the car from the boot to the bonnet continually firing into the vehicle.
And at one point he was even on the hood of the car, and must have been able to see the injured victims.
And yet this cowboy continued to fire a further 15 shots at a very close range directly at them.
Brelo had fired during the incident a total of 49 shots at the couple.
And even though all the other officers had stopped firing, he had long continued to fire at them.
Malissa Williams' cause of death was 24 gunshot wounds to the head, neck, body, and her left arm.
Russell had been struck 23 times.
So before Brelo fired a further 15, they had already been struck by 32 bullets between them.
They were unarmed and badly wounded, so would you not agree that he had executed them?
Because at the end of the day, there was never any weapons whatsoever recovered from that vehicle.
The only injuries that any officer received was from their own colleagues, (friendly fire).
Police officers had positioned themselves on each side of the vehicle firing at random towards each other.
The innocent deaths were ruled as homicides, and yet just one year later Brelo was acquitted!?
Six officers along with Brelo were fired, but five of them were actually later reinstated!
Brelo then actually sent an email to his colleagues, complaining about 'HIS', bad treatment!?
And there it is again, give people some hope of justice, and then snatch it away?
Would you not agree that the officer should be retried for murder in the first degree, because in essence he executed that innocent couple?
Michelle Cusseaux.
Michelle Cusseaux:
Michelle was 50 years old, and she died on the 14th of August, 2014.
She was killed by a single gunshot whilst at the threshold of her own apartment.
Officers were attempting to serve an emergency court order to take her to a mental health facility.
Sergeant Percy Dupra fatally shot Michelle Cusseaux outside of her apartment.
Why would a police officer even pull a gun on a woman that was obviously already terrified?
Phoenix Police Department's 'Use of Force Board', ruled officer Sergeant Percy Dupra, as being in violation of department policy.
These multiple uniformed police officers were witnessed to have arrived unannounced, and with guns fully drawn.
According to witnesses, she refused them entry, so officer Dupra forced his way in, which is illegal.
Michelle had been repairing a lock and is why she was already at the door when they arrived.
After Dupra forced open the door he seen the hammer, and even though she had made no threat to him whatsoever, he still shot her in the heart.
Her mother had explained she had simply been changing the locks in her home, and showed other tools lying around in the living room.
When the paramedics took Michelle to hospital they took her to a hospital right across town, instead of the one just a few minutes away.
It was noted that the police had conferred with the paramedics before they took her away?
Miriam Carey.
Miriam Iris Carey:
Miriam was 34 years old, and she died on the 3rd of October, 2013.
She was a professional dental hygienist licensed to practice in New York, and Stamford Connecticut.
Miriam had an associate degree in dental hygiene from Hostos Community College.
She had also graduated from Brooklyn College in 2007 with a degree in health nutrition science.
According to a family spokesman, Miriam had previously been hospitalised for postpartum depression.
She had attempted to drive through a White House security checkpoint.
There she was chased by the Secret Service to the United States Capitol, and she was fatally shot by law enforcement officers.
An autopsy proved that the shooting was unjustified, because she was repeatedly shot in the back five times, and was unarmed with a baby in the car.
The young child, Miriams daughter, was found unharmed in the car after it was ultimately stopped.
But it was more by luck than any kind of judgement!
SAY HER NAME!
Natasha McKenna.
Natasha McKenna:
Natasha was 37 years old, and she died on the 8th of February, 2015.
Her death occurred in Fairfax County, Virginia.
This happened a few days after being in police custody whilst shackled, and continually Tasered.
Unable to withstand the four 50 thousand volt shocks she received, her body gave up, and she died.
This seemed more like torture than any kind of interrogation.
People when restrained pose no serious threat whatsoever.
So using a Taser just to ask them to calm down is completely pointless, as they cannot do any harm.
This is an excessive use of force, amounting to both torture and inhumane degradation.
No criminal charges were ever filed against these 'SIX' deputies that restrained her.
Even though a chilling video showing that she presented absolutely no threat to the officers whatsoever had been made public.
There is too much emphasis placed upon the words mentally ill, and it should be noted and taught to those dealing with people.
It is so easy to dismiss someones bad treatment based upon this simple fact.
Hospitals were originally set up to help people when their minds are troubled.
This is not a place for torture, and for bullying a soul?
Poor Natasha, should have immediately been taken to a hospital for care and treatment, not Tasered, and murdered..!
Pamela Turner.
Pamela Turner:
Pamela was 44 years of age, and she died on the 13th of May, 2019.
She was shot by a Baytown Texas police Officer Juan Delacruz.
According to her family, the officer routinely patrolled the area, and Pamela had 'several bad experiences' with him.
Pamela who suffered from schizophrenia, was simply picking up some rubbish and putting it into the bins, when the officer approached.
She was said by neighbours to be very friendly, and never any threat to anyone.
The officer states that she took his Taser and fired it at him, then she ended up on her back.
She would have had to have reload it, to use it again, and she wouldn't have known how to do this.
Whilst on her back, he is seen to fire five rounds into her.
His use of deadly force was totally ridiculous.
How did a woman manage to take an officers Taser, or is that just negligence?
What makes much more sense is the fact that Turner's sister, Antoinette Dorsey-James, had told KPRC last year that her sibling had previously complained about this officer harassing her.
If you watch the video,it gives a clear and strong hint that this officer had hidden agenda with Pamela Turner?
She was clearly afraid of him, and much more than she ever should be?
Priscilla Slater:
Priscilla was 38 years old, and she died on the 10th of June, 2020.
She was first arrested on the 9th of June, and secured in a holding cell.
Priscilla was discovered unresponsive by Harper Woods Public Safety staff at around 12:35PM.
Medics attempted to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at the nearby St.Johns Hospital around 12:45 p.m.
Six employees of the Harper Woods Department of Public Safety were put on leave while Michigan State Police (MSP) continued their investigations.
There are discrepancies whether Priscilla Slater was checked on every 30 minutes, as the law requires her to be.
Quite similar to the Sandra Blands case?
12 hours prior to her arrest, Priscilla and a man named Lewis Nichols, 27, were arrested in connection with an alleged shooting that took place at the Parkcrest Inn.
They were approached by police while they were sleeping in a vehicle. and 19 shots were fired into a room where a mother and her baby slept.
A key witness for the case stated that he had seen Priscilla Slater being pushed to the ground and dragged by Nichols after the alleged shooting.
He stated that 'Before the police even arrived, She couldn't even stand up by herself'.
Nichols had knocked her to the ground, and she was barely able to get back up.
He was trying to drag her, saying, 'Let's go. Let's go'.
Priscilla Slater’s family claim that the police did not initially tell them why she was even arrested.
Ralkina Jones.
Ralkina Jones:
Ralkina was 37 years old, and she died on the 26th of July, 2015.
The first reports simply mention that Ralkina was arrested for an altercation with her ex-husband.
They stated that she had struck him with a tyre iron on his arm, and drove her car at him.
Her child was in the car at the time, however she was said to have not actually hit him with the car.
The ex-(Brandon Jones), had refused to press charges, which wasn't actually a kindness.
It was simply a way to draw the attention away from what he'd done to her.
What the police didn't bother to report until many years later, is that the husband was actually an abuser.
He had at one time actually hung her, and she ended up with a brain injury.
In his temper he'd put 4 holes into the family walls.
Brandon Jones had been to jail for kidnap and abuse towards women.
Ralkina was found dead in her jail cell, due to a medical condition ignored by the police.
According to the medical examiner Jones had multiple scars on her face, also on her abdomen, back, and left wrist.
Her body had contusions under one eye, on the upper left arm, upper back, forearms, and her fingers.
She should never been arrested in the first place, the lady had been through hell and back.
They should have locked up her ex-husband and threw away the key.
How can law enforcement be seen to be anything other than a bully, when this kind of injustice is committed by them?
She had been medicated twice by police, and that was the cause of her death.
It was the first time she'd ever been in any custody, and was a really misunderstood 'good person'.
The number of people that die each year as a direct result of police interventions, are estimated between 400, to over 1000.
Given the data available, it is strongly suggested that African Americans are disproportionately affected.
It's very clear that the unfairness of both America, and the UK, in their treatment of other races is bordering on inhumanity.
This country boasts about its interracial harmony, but its far from it, when considering the treatment by police!
Something needs to change, and it needs to change NOW..!
