SYSTEMIC RACISM?

cornercorner

Deadly Force:
Ma’Khia Bryant was shot and killed by police Officer Nick Reardon.
The officer stated that she was about to stab someone.
For the astute, there is evidence in the video to prove she wasn't trying to stab, but just scare her attackers.

Was his reaction based on a missed opportunity, bad training, or systemic racism?
Police officers are trained to wear their gun on their dominant right, and the Taser is worn on the left.
This is reversed if your dominant side is on the left.

The question was asked, could the officers reaction have been any different, had she been white?
And would it have made a difference if a Taser was worn on an officers dominant side?
The gun is all too easily drawn, and depending on the subject, much too easily fired?
This was a sixteen year old girl, and she is seen in the video chasing another female towards the officer.

At this point an officer could have easily stopped her, with a night stick (Truncheon/Baton).
Any veteran soldier will tell you, that shouting commands at an aggressor is sometimes enough to slow them down.
He had ample time to draw his Taser instead of his gun, and even then he could have warned her to stop, or simply used it; to stun her.
The result would have been that her precious little life would have been spared.

Instead, the officer only concentrates on what she is doing, whilst ignoring the male that's kicking a female on the floor.
Even then he is seen immediately drawing his gun.
At that point, one shot fired into the air would have scared her into dropping that knife.
Yet he simply chose to use rapid fire, and no less than four bullets hit her back!

Knee Jerk:
Had the officer already made up his mind to shoot her?
Watching the video, he's heard shouting, 'Get Down, Get Down', several times.
Which involved enough time to simply shout, 'Stop, or I will fire'?
The interpretation of 'Get Down' is simply, 'I'm about to fire my gun at someone'.

Firing four bullets into the direction of two people, could have resulted in both fatalities, not just the one.
Four bullets to down a 16 year old female child, was brutally excessive.
In a court of law, given all the past atrocities, its clear to say that he will be exonerated.
However, in a court of humanity, he would simply be condemned.

All this was over a domestic argument, and frustrated tensions at home.
To end with a childs death simply displays the lack of protection that some members of the public receive.

And I'm sure that you can understand exactly what is being said here?
The training of officers must be updated, and psychological examinations of candidates must be made compulsory.
Cavalier attitudes of police officers is common place, both in America and the UK.

KNEE JERK REACTION?

cornercorner

Overkill:
It's a tough call for some people.
But that's dependant on which side of the fence that you're sitting on.
Being on top of that fence requires no such thoughts.

The fact remains that it continues to happen at an alarming rate.
This occurred just thirty minutes before the guilty verdict was delivered in the killing of George Floyd.

The only thing clear in the video is that a decision was made to shoot Ma’Khia, almost like a knee jerk reaction.
It wasn't even considered for a moment, and the deployment of a gun should always be a last resort.
The words, 'Never point a gun at anyone, unless you intend to use it'. Seems to be completely ignored when in certain company.

Self Defence:
Clearly a disproportionate and unjustified use of force was employed in this situation,
Hazel Bryant, Ma’Khia's aunt, had said, 'Ma’Khia was acting in self-defence.
She was simply defending herself, she also added that those were grown, adult women.

It may have looked like that was a child. But that was not a child.
They were grown women that were attacking my niece, and she was just defending herself.
She concluded with how angry she felt right now.

At the end of the day, nothing can bring back Ma'khia Bryant, but her death should not be in vain.
Its time for America and the UK to address the training of future officers.
Employ further psychological checks and background related issues.

Its clear that in Ohio, that African American police officers have stated it's not just the public.
Meaning that racism exists between the ranks, and this should be a clear sign of racist offenders within the police forces.
It's also possible that this could be more world wide, and it should be stamped out now!

Bad Witness:
A neighbour Donavon Brinson had also captured footage of the Ma'Khia shooting event.
He declares that the officer Nick Reardon, had no choice, and made the right call.
First of all, everyone has a choice, and secondly shooting someone in the back, is not the right call.

He then states that the officer had just nine seconds to respond.
I've personally seen lives saved in much less.
One thing to remember is that a police officer is not a spectator!
He should have actually been physically responding from point zero.

As stated before, he could have stopped Ma'Khia as soon as he seen her running towards him.
Instead, what's seen in the video is a man confused, and unaware of his own profession.
If a soldier hesitated as he did, many people would die, and in similar fashion, soldiers and the police are trained to respond instantly.
Take control of the situation, and remove any threat, doesn't mean kill people.

There is a video on the net, of a male threatening two officers with a knife (Photo below), he even slashes at them.
These professional officers decided not to use deadly force, and eventually took him into custody.
That's an instance of decisive response.

IN CONCLUSION!

Control:
There is no doubt that many will simply dismiss this incident.
Quite often using the logic, knife equals threat, gun equals decider.
But its wrong, dismissing any incident without knowing all the facts and considerations, is painfully wrong.

Knife crime in the UK, is at an all time high, but very few cops are allowed to carry guns here.
If they all did, we would possibly have a much bigger problem.
What this tells us is, if we can do it, then why can't America?

Self defence teaches us, its not the weapon that's a danger to us, its the hand that controls it.
You don't attempt to block a knife or try to stop a bullet, you control the hand that contains the weapon.
Once you have hold of the hand/wrist, they simply forget about you, and struggle for control of their weapon.
At that point, you are free to do whatever you must, to bring them to submission.

Their panic is your salvation.

Scare Tactics:
Failure to consider the other side of a story, is also wrong.
So many times people listen to others instead of considering both sides.
Everyone sees Ma'Khia as the aggressor, but in fact she was defending herself.
She made the mistake of wielding a knife, but its doubtful that she would have truly used it.

There is more chance that she held it, to give herself an advantage over her grown up attackers?

The first woman turned towards Ma'khia, but tripped and fell to the ground.
It was at that point Ma'khia could have easily stabbed her, but she didn't.
When you see her attack the lady in pink, she is pushing her, not stabbing her, the knife remained fairly static.
Look at the position of her hand in the picture, yet she pushes her even further away.

If you study the video closely, when she is holding her against the car.
You will see that she brings the knife down towards her shoulder, but twists her hand to avoid the knife striking her.
She actually hits the top of her shoulder with her lower hand and wrist. That's an involuntary instinct to avoid real harm.

Study:
It took just one hour of watching the full video to discover the above.
However, it only appears in a few released videos, one of which was cloned, but copyright forbids publishing it.
If you watch the videos that the police distribute they show almost no information whatsoever, other than a knife in the hand of Ma'khia.
So for those that prefer none biased evidence, then you can do the same?

Even the sites domain name cannot be published, or it will possibly disappear?
That's provided that they haven't already removed it, it was still there a few hours ago.
After viewing it, you can easily consider the knife was simply used to frighten her attackers into submission.

Its important to remember that she was just sixteen years old!
At that age, its very few people that can actually hurt someone with deliberate intent, so its quite doubtful that she could.
Harming people is resisted by the brain. It even takes training to achieve the capability to do so.
Most people pull their punches without even realising it.

First world war soldiers used to fire and miss their targets, due to the brain resisting harming someone.
Hence the use of attacking a dummy with bayonet practice. Its purely a psychological factor.
Had she been Tasered, she would still be here now.

Even if he'd used a nightstick, and broken her wrist, she would still have a life.
Officers are supposed to be trained to protect people, not go around eliminating them?
